Our Journey

Brunswick Sinhala Language School (BSLS) was started in July 1992 at Warrapark community centre Brunswick. BSLS was fortunate to have initial guidance and advice from Venerable Gangodavila Soma Thero and currently Venerable Royal Pandith Digamadulle Wimalananda Thero is the chief advisor of the Brunswick Sinhala language school.

School is located at Gladstone Park secondary college, 24-36 Taylor Drive Gladstone Park VIC 3043.The school is managed by Brunswick Sri Lankan Community Group Inc and operates Sundays from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm during mainstream school terms.

Meet our staff

At present there are 10 qualified teachers and a principal with a valid Working with Children Certification, carrying out teaching duties in the Sinhala Language school Melbourne. Four stand-by qualified teachers are available to fill the void, if any of the regular teachers are absent for the duty. The quality of teaching is at a high standard as all the teachers are well qualified for their task. Teachers are creating learning environment, which stimulate interest in learning and promote excellence. Teachers also accept and acknowledge the needs of the students to be both challenge and given support. Teachers attend continuous professional development program conducted by Ethnic School Association of Victoria to enhance their knowledge to excel in their role.
